Happy Holidays!

23 December 2006

I’d like to thank all of you who have taken part in Menu for Hope III – we’ve raised nearly $60,000 – WOW! Pim and all other regional hosts worked very hard and I think we in the food blogging community should be proud.

Also, I know it’s a little late, but as an extra thank you to my readers I’ve rustled up some Christmas e-cards with my photos – if you’d like to send a quick holiday message at the last minute, just click the photo you fancy and write a sweet note to a friend or loved one :)

Have a wonderful Christmas and happy new year, everyone!

  • Happy holidays to you Keiko! And thanks for these beautifull little presents, the pictures are absolutely great, as always ;-)

  • Hey Keiko,

Seasons greetings and all that… lovely image including Maya as usual!

Finally, I have a tripod, so I’ll be experimenting to get better food photos myself in the coming days and weeks, although, I doubt to quite the same level of detail on the presentation front.

Also thanks to Matthew for the idea of a laser for my sister and nephew’s cat, Dylan. I think he’s had more exercise running after the beam (thanks to the 4.99 ultra-mini laser from maplin) in the last 48hrs than he’s had in his entire life, although it frightened the crap out of my parent’s cat, to the point that he just hid (well… Nutmeg has always been a bit of a softy and he’s getting old). Dylan just goes nuts after it though. Must be the first time I’ve seen a cat panting, with mouth open and tongue out, much like a small dog, after my nephew had the poor thing running around the living room in circles chasing the small dot… got a feeling it’s gonna cost my nephew a fortune in batteries.

Still… great fun, and Dylan didn’t seem to mind! Great entertainment all round I reckon ;-)

    Best wishes,
    Mark

  • Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your kind wishes – I hope you all have a wonderful 2007!

Denniswoo – I use a Canon 350D (Rebel XT in the States).

MS – hope you received my email :)

Fanny – she is actually HE, I know, he has a girly name…

Joey – your porchetta looks divine :)

Faye – I started learning myself when I started this blog, and still have loads to learn! I’m not sure what kind of subjects you mainly take, but for food shots I always try to see how light falls onto the subject – move the camera and play around taking pictures from different angles :) (and always try to use natural light)
